Julie Crossover bag

Have bought a number of Zoomlite products and overall was very happy with all of them. I however was disappointed with the Julie Crossover bag. It looks amazing, is very light weight and has a great number of pockets. However the inside lining of the bag constantly gets caught in the zipper. It then requires time and effort to free the zipper again. Maybe others will have more luck with this product.

Great bag but over-engineered

I am a seasoned traveler and luggage addict who owns three Zoomlite anti-theft or secure bags:

the Florence anti-theft crossbody shoulder bag, the Olivia RFID crossbody organizer, and the Anti-theft mini crossbody organiser.

I have written reviews of all three bags. This review is about the Olivia which I have been using for about five weeks.

I would use this bag when I travel to countries where theft is not a major concern but I still want some peace of mind, and also when I have less to carry. I would also use it within Australia when I want a smaller day bag. I would not use it as an everyday bag. Here is why:

This bag compliments my Florence anti-theft bag. It is smaller yet still fits in a reasonable amount of stuff.

There are 4 zipped compartments – two in the front, one main and one rear.

I use the front compartment to put my phone in and that’s all because I don’t want to be fumbling around amongst other things when getting my phone out.

The second front compartment sits in between the front compartment and the main compartment. This compartment has an anti-theft lock. For me, this is the least useful compartment because the locking mechanism is shared with the lock for the main compartment and is awkward to lock and unlock. Also, this compartment is overly-engineered for such a slim area. It should be a single compartment with no sleeved areas. But it has sleeved areas on both sides and this is awkward when you put you hand in. If there was one thing I…

This bag contains 2 anti-theft features - Pick-pocket safe zipper clips and an RFID blocking pocket.

Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) is the use of radio waves to read and capture information stored on a tag attached to an object. A tag can be read from up to several feet away. These tags include the electronic chips on modern day credit cards and passports. These chips contain sensitive and personal data, that can be misused if they fall into the wrong hands.

This bag has a dedicated pocket that has been lined with a special material that has been designed to block the transmission of signals from your credit cards and passport to identity thieves with scanners. You must put your credit cards and passport in this dedicated pocket (which is clearly identified in every bag either with RFID logo printed on the lining or a label in the pocket) to secure your credit cards and passport.

Locking clips are provided on every bag. You can engage the zipper puller of one or more compartments to the locking clips. This will prevent opportunistic pick pockets from easily getting inside your bag's contents, as it will take them some time to disengage the pullers from the locking clips.

A cross-body bag is not only convenient but also a stylish way to wear your bag these days. Wearing your bag closer to your torso makes it more difficult for purse snatchers. It also helps in keeping your hands free, which is great for a busy lifestyle.

The outer material of this bag is made from water-repellent nylon. It is perfect for those occasions when you are caught in an unexpected rain shower. However, if you accidentally dropped your bag in a pool of water, or if the bag gets soaked in a heavy downpour then water could seep through the zippers and the edges of the various compartments.
