Travel to a Romantic Destination this Valentine’s Day

February 13, 2015

Valentine’s Day can be the perfect excuse to have a short romantic getaway with your loved one. It allows you some space with their undivided attention, so you can really spend some quality time together.

Planning a romantic trip with that special person may be just what you need as a couple. Whatever your budget, there are always options to getaway somewhere. Whether you can fly to Bali for a long weekend or just find a hotel in a different state to explore.

Surprising your spouse with a special getaway together can also reap huge emotional rewards for your relationship. One gentleman we know man who did exactly this last year made reservations at a bed and breakfast, arranged for childcare, asked for time off from work for himself and his wife, and packed his and her bags. When he asked his wife to go to lunch on Valentine’s Day she was in for a wonderful surprise. “The little bit of effort I put into that weekend paid off huge for weeks to come.”

Here are Zoomlite’s top three destinations for a romantic getaway this Valentine’s Day:

  1. The beaches of Bali are well trodden by all kinds of tourists, and they also make for a sensational romantic destination. In the balmy waters of southern Asia, the Indonesian island, complete with verdant landscape, volcanic lakes and cultural gems, is as close to paradise as they come. Head to the Karma Kandara resort on Bali’s secluded southernmost tip, a stunning architectural feat merging classic Balinese design with pure luxury. Snuggle up undisturbed in one of the beautifully furnished individual villas, which come with their own tropical courtyard, private pool and personal access to the beach. Enjoy candlelit dinner at the cliff-face restaurant and sip champagne under the stars at the hotel’s rooftop bar.

  1. Arguably Australia’s most romantic destination, the Whitsundays is synonymous with beauty and love. Hire a helicopter to see the stunning aerial view of everything this natural wonder has to offer. We think Hamilton Island is especially beautiful on the most romantic day of the year, with the iconic Heart Reef. Later in the evening you can take a picnic rug up to One Tree Hill and enjoy a cocktail while the sun sets over the water. It’s also licensed so you can bring your own bottle of wine. Hamilton Island offer a range of incredible cruises, so you can spend the rest of your trip exploring your beautiful surrounds.

  1. There’s nothing quite like exploring the city if you’re in need of a quick adventure. Home to some of Australia’s most iconic sites, Sydney is sure to have something to offer every go-getting couple. We recommend go for a long walk among the crashing ocean waves on the Bondi to Bronte beach walk, and bring a picnic to enjoy whilst taking in the breathtaking beauty you wouldn’t believe was in a city. Make your way over to Circular Quay where you can watch the sun set over the Harbour Bridge, then finish the night off with one of the spectacular performances in the Sydney Opera House with a glass of champagne.
